Hospitals are for emergencies only

TEMBISA - Tembisa Hospital spokesperson said the hospital is asking patients to refrain from bringing minor issues to the hospital.

Lesibana Ledwaba said, “Patients with minor injuries or sicknesses come to the casualty ward and complain when they are not attended to. The hospital first treats patients with life-threatening illnesses.”

He added that anyone having ‘flu symptoms or who has a little cut should first go to the clinic. “If the situation is serious the clinics will refer you to the hospital. Clinics are there to assist with such illnesses.”

Lesibana said patients who come to the hospital for minor sicknesses will be sent back as the hospital will only attend to emergency ailments. “The casualty department prioritises emergency cases, please do not wait there for ‘flu or a headache.”
