Another body found at Ipi Tombi
MIDRAND - Another body has been found in the debris of a former tavern known as Ipi Tombi in Midrand.
The building collapsed after a gas explosion on 23 June.
The first body was discovered by a security guard on 12 July. Midrand police station commander, Colonel Steven Moodley said the second body was found on 19 July. He said, “A search and rescue team found the body, the first body has been positively identified by family members who told police that the victim had been with someone else.”
Moodley explained that the search was delayed because it was deemed unsafe. “The scene has now been declared safe by a search and rescue team,” he said.
Police said the incident was still being investigated and the search continues.
