Schools combat social ills together

CARLSWALD - Carlswald House Preparatory School, together with 345 Nursery School pupils and their parents, held a charity drive that saw them collecting books and groceries for two children's homes.

The nursery school was tasked with the collection of books new and old. “These were distributed to Yenzani Children’s Home (in Noordwyk) and The Daycare Pre-School Group in Ivory Park (in Tembisa)”, said Bev McVicker, administarator at 345 Nursery School.

The preparatory’s job was to donate dry groceries, toiletry and stationery items, which were delivered to Twilight Children in Hillbrow, where various outreach and developmental programmes are in place to help street children.

McVicker expressed gratitude to everyone involved. “To the staff we met and the lovely children: it was truly a privilege for us to spread some smiles, and thank you for making a difference in the lives of these children.”
