Water problems persist in Midrand

MIDRAND - Some suburbs in Midrand are still without water supply.

“The facilities that still have no water are South Hills tower and Rabie Ridge reservoir. The suburbs supplied by the two storage facilities include, Rabie Ridge, Mayibuye, Risana, South Hills, Thulisa Park and surrounding areas,” said Millicent Kabwe of Johannesburg Water.

However, she assured residents that the situation was under control, “We have made temporary provision for the areas that are still affected by way of water tanks. In the Rabie Ridge area, we have roaming tanks and in South Hills we have a stationery tank at the water tower and at 21 Risana road.”

However, on the morning of 25 September some of Midrand’s residents were still frustrated. They took to social media to voice their frustration.

Pieter Bosch Botha @Boschwhacked tweeted, “Midrand (Halfway House) still without water.”

Thivhi Ramovha @ThivhiRamovha tweeted, “Warning: No water in Midrand. This means others didn’t bath today.”

The water outage was reportedly caused by a power cut at a main pumping station in Eikenhof. Rand Water’s spokesperson Justice Mohale has reportedly said there was a steady increase in reservoir water levels which meant more areas would start getting water soon.
