The Midrand police were alerted of a case on 6 November whereby a caretaker was being accused of beating a teenage boy with a sjambok.
According to the victim’s mother, she had just come back from work at about 5.30pm when her neighbour approached her and informed her that her son was being beaten with a sjambok.
When the mother went to the caretaker’s quarters, she found a painful scene. Her 18-year-old was handcuffed and being beaten with a sjambok, while his pants were down.
The teenager sustained injuries on his buttocks.
Constable Matome Tlamela, head of communications at the Midrand police, said the case was still being investigated.
