Crime prevention initiative at taxi rank

MIDRAND - Police, Metro police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) conducted a crime awareness campaign at Boulders taxi rank on 8 January.

The event started at 10am and ended at 1.30pm.

The purpose of the event was to educate the community about various crime fighting opportunities.

Pamphlets were distributed with various safety tips on crime prevention.

Metro police and the EMS were distributing pamphlets on the information on bylaw management and prevention tips on ATM crimes, homes and vehicle safety.

The police’s pamphlets were focused on domestic violence, sexual offences, fraud awareness and tips on how to carry cash safely.

“The event was a huge success and the community were delighted to see us around them,” said the police’s community crime prevention co-ordinator, Constable Nanty Belebesi.

“They had the opportunity to ask questions on other services being offered by the police.”

All in all, 1 200 pamphlets were distributed to the community.
