Theft out of motor vehicles is still a problem

MIDRAND - Two laptops were stolen from a shopper's car at Crowthorne shopping centre.

The woman said she left her car in the parking lot with all the doors and windows properly closed and locked.

When she came back from her shopping, she opened the car boot to put in some groceries and was surprised to find out that her two laptops were missing. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle.

“The police are busy with the investigation with regard to the case hoping to bring the suspects to book,” said Constable Matome Tlamela of Midrand Police Station.

Meanwhile, on 7 January another theft out of motor vehicle occurred at Midway Mews shopping centre at about 5pm. The complainant said she parked her vehicle and went into the grocery store. She used a remote control to lock her vehicle, and when she came back she realised that her vehicle’s back door was open and the alarm lights were flashing. Upon further investigation she noticed that her laptop valued at R8 000 was stolen. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle. The police are busy investigating the matter, said Tlamela.
