Miss Commonwealth SA semi-finalist
HALFWAY GARDENS - Resident Belinda Tswai has been chosen as on one of the Top 30 semi-finalists for this year's Miss Commonwealth SA 2015 pageant.
The pageant empowers women with the knowledge to bring about change to communities in need.
Tswai said she entered the pageant because it embodies a culture of giving by way of promoting involvement in charity work. “For me, this provides an opportunity to learn and make a difference outside of my profession whilst doing something fun,” she added. The 31-year-old environmental assessment practitioner was also involved in a street kids feeding programme during her school days.
She said she finds her inspiration from life experiences, believing that no matter what you go through you must still have the courage and enthusiasm to wake up the next day to try again. Tswai’s advice to anyone interested in entering any pageant is, “You have nothing to lose. It is also a fun way to meet new people who are interested in the same things as you.”
The grand finale takes place at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on 12 September and the winner will represent South Africa at the international pageant in London in November.
