Pet care expo coming to Midrand

MIDRAND - According to Euromonitor International, by 2017, the value of the South African pet care market will reach close to R9 billion on the back of an average annual growth rate of 8 percent.

Despite an embattled economy, the local pet care market has proven extremely resilient, with the continued popularity and growth of the World of Dogs & Cats and Pet Exhibition as further testament to this trend.

In a statement, the company said research conducted among visitors to the 2014 expo supported this growth trend, revealing that 70 percent of attendees purchased products at the expo, 38 percent spent more than R500 and 96.9 per of visitors said they would visit the expo again.

Exhibitor Henk Jutte said, “The brand Complete Pet Food exhibited at the expo and the exposure we have received has played a big part in the growth of our sales each year.”

Expo organiser Brian Blades said getting to meet customers at the expo builds trust and loyalty. “The expo gives exhibitors the opportunity to launch or showcase products and services, build brands, sell goods and to meet and build relationships with buyers in person. This expo usually attracts more than 22 000 passionate pet lovers in just three days.”

The 20th anniversary show will host attractions that include demonstrations, shows and competitions, as well as the popular Hall of Dogs, Hall of Cats, Equine Area, reptile exhibits and aquatic exhibits. It will be held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 17 to 19 July.
