Zumba for mothers

MIDRAND - Desh Fitness Studios is offering moms the chance to shake their stress away in a fun Zumba class to raise awareness for charity.

The studios are playing host to a Mother’s Day Charity Drive in aid of The Home of Hope, which is a shelter that rehabilitates exploited or abused girls.

The event will be held on 9 May at Halfway House Primary School and while entrance to the class is free, an item to donate to The Home of Hope is appreciated. Small businesses will also showcase their products in a variety of stalls.

Deshni Harricharan of Desh Fitness Studios said the charity drive promised to be a fun-filled morning where the community could look forward to an energy packed Zumba class in which ZumbaDesh and ZumbaTalz will be instructing together with a few other guest instructors from 8am to 9.30am.

Harricharan explained, “Desh Fitness Studios started its journey 14 months ago with the vision of raising funds to support a variety of charities and to create awareness around fitness, empowerment and support systems for women. For most women, Desh Fitness Studios has become a family to lean on for support during trying times and to share in celebrations and accomplishments.”

Harricharan said through the help of its members, the studios has raised funds to feed, clothe and support those less fortunate. “We constantly strive to succeed in our mission to give back to the community and we are ready to do it again.”
