Sniper Entertainment turns Klipfontein talent into chart-topping success

From independent township roots to major music awards, Clement Tshuutshuu is proving local artists can rival the industry's biggest players.

In Klipfontein, where creative talent flourishes despite limited resources, one young resident is determined to transform local music.

Sniper Entertainment founder Clement ‘Sniper’ Tshutshu is not simply running an independent record label; he is championing grassroots artists who possess vocal ability but lack financial backing.

Officially registered in 2024, Sniper Entertainment is youth-driven, independent and proudly South African, but its story started long before the paperwork, with a boy from Klipfontein who believed music could change lives. “I saw so much talent in our township with no way out. Artists with big dreams but no studio, no promotion, no one to believe in them. I told myself, ‘If no one is going to open the door for us, I will build the door myself’,” said Tshutshu.

Today, Sniper Entertainment is home to five versatile artists: producer Anuza SA, Talent, Sweet Chilli, Tee-S Papah and Akua, each bringing a unique flavour to the label. The label is genre-fluid, but rooted in authentic South African sounds: lekompo, motswako, Afro-soul and Afro-pop. It is the sound of the township, the sound of the people. “We are not chasing trends; we are telling our stories. Lekompo, motswako, Afro-soul – this is who we are,” said Tshutshu.

The results speak for themselves. In just a short time, Sniper Entertainment won Music Video of the Year at the 2024 Eminent Music Video Awards and achieved a major milestone: a Platinum certification for Tee-S Papah’s single Mama.
“When Mama went Platinum, I cried. That was proof that a boy from Klipfontein can compete with the big labels. It proved that our sound, our stories, our people matter,” said Tshutshu.

Tshutshu emphasised that awards are not the ultimate objective, maintaining that community empowerment remains his core focus.
Sniper Entertainment exists to bridge the gap for disadvantaged artists who lack financial resources to access quality studio time and promotion. The label actively scouts and develops new talent from the ground up.

“My purpose is bigger than music,” Tshutshu said. “I want a young artist from Klipfontein, from anywhere in the township, to know that they don’t need to be rich to be heard. If you have talent and discipline, Sniper will stand with you.”

With passion, consistency, and an eye for raw talent, Sniper Entertainment is fast becoming one of the most influential independent labels in the country. From Klipfontein to platinum albums, Tshutshu is proof that when you believe in your people, the world will listen.
