The campaign teaches pupils about the importance of setting goals at a young age. Pupils watched a video by cricketer Dale Steyn before listening to a presentation on life goals by an OMO facilitator, Tshiamo Shomang.
Shomang said, “OMO contacts schools and offers to bring the message of the campaign to the selected schools.”
The project was filmed by TV show Expresso. The show’s director Brett Collopy said, “When we heard about the campaign and its message, we decided to partner with OMO and film it.”
Glen Austin principal Alec Abbot said the event was organised by the school’s vice principal Dirk Van Nierkerk. He said, “When we heard about the campaign we were very excited because it teaches children about the importance of having goals. That is a key responsibility in any person’s life.”
Abbot added that he is excited about the campaign because of a Harvard Business School goal study from a book What They Don’t Teach You At Harvard Business School by Mark McComack which asks pupils about their goals. The study found that 13 percent of the class who had goals were earning twice as much as the 84 percent who had no goals.
A Grade 8 pupil at the school Ntabiseng Mathepe said she enjoyed the presentation. ” I am learning how to keep up with my dreams through setting goals.”
Schools also have a chance to enter an OMO competition by collecting OMO or Skip container caps.
