The ground-breaking ceremony and unveiling of the school will take place on 28 May at 11.45am.
The school is meant to have a significant impact on the children’s development and create an environment in which young children live and learn. While working and listening to the community in Tembisa Township, Love Trust said they saw the need to establish a place where children were given the opportunity to reach their full potential. “Nokuphila School in Tembisa, one of our projects, was started with the intention of creating new opportunities for vulnerable children and their families. We hope to serve in a way that will open horizons and provide for an improved quality of life,” said Bishop Martin Morrison, head and founder of the organisation.
The school serves 257 disadvantaged children from Grade 0 to Grade 4. The school has also seen some successes. They claim their Grade 1 pupils scored 90 percent in numeracy and 80 percent in literacy in the 2014 Annual National Assessment Test.
The non-profit organisation, which is based in Midrand, grew out of the need to serve vulnerable children and their communities.
