Ivory Park gets a clean-up

IVORY PARK - IVORY Park litter was picked up and the streets were cleaned during a National Environment Week initiative led by Lead SA, Pikitup and the City of Johannesburg recently.

 

MMC for Enviroment and Infrastrusture Services, Matshidiso Mfikoe said, “Residents must know that keeping the streets clean is their responsibility. The City is cleaning up Ivory Park and other areas to commemorate National Environment Week.”

Lead SA representative Yusuf Abramjee welcomed Minister of Tourism Derek Hanekom who came to show his support for the initiative. He added, “The #TeamUptoCleanUp initiative should be a regular event, communities must not litter.”

Miss Earth 2014 South Africa, Ilze Saunders, who was present said, “We are excited to be here and effect a positive change in Ivory Park by taking part in the clean-up.”

Children from Sedi Laka School joined the clean-up and the cleaners were later joined by Mayor Parks Tau who also celebrated his birthday on the day.
