Couple hijacked and robbed in Midrand

EBONY PARK - A man and his girlfriend were recently hijacked while sitting in his vehicle in Ebony Park.

The complainant told police that two suspects allegedly approached them, threatened them with a firearm and instructed the man and his girlfriend to move to the backseat. The suspects allegedly drove away with the victims.

Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “It is alleged that along the way, the suspects demanded the victim’s bank card as well as the pin code. The suspects stole a camera, laptop and cellphones before they withdrew money at an ATM from the complainant’s bank account.”

The victims were later dropped off in Tembisa at Mutsu Section next to an old-age home, and the suspects drove off in the vehicle. Police are looking for the suspects.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects can contact Ivory Park police.
