Children give up their toys for others

MIDRAND - Ward 112, Reddam House Waterfall Estate’s Foundation Phase and Poplar Academy children donated their teddy bears to abused children at The Teddy Bear Clinic in Johannesburg.

Ward 112 councillor Candice James said she was thankful to the schools for taking part in the International Teddy Bear Day on 9 September and added, “The work that The Teddy Bear Clinic does is very important, taking care of abused children.”

Reddam House Waterfall’s principal Lisette Noonan said the school was blown away by just how many teddy bears were donated. “Pupils… were asked to bring a teddy to school to be donated to The Teddy Bear Clinic. Once they learnt who their teddies were going to, they were only too happy to give their teddies away, even their favorite ones,” she said.

Poplar Academy principal Lizelle Naude said, “We support any initiative that seeks to make a change in children’s lives. The work done by The Teddy Bear Clinic is important.”

The Teddy Bear Clinic donor liaison officer, Dalene Bishop, said the clinic was grateful for the donation and added, “Each time a child comes into our services they receive a teddy bear, which is comforting to any child.”
