Noordwyk Secondary School pupils turn up in beautiful cultural wear

MIDRAND - Noordwyk Secondary School celebrated Heritage Day with music, dance and beautiful traditional wear from different cultures.

Pupils showcased Ndebele, Indian, Venda, Sotho and Zulu cultural attire, to name a few. The day started off with different cultural groups and individuals presenting different aspects of each culture through poetry and dance. A group presented songs from the South African movie Sarafina.

Danny Musakanda, a pupil at the school said, “Most of the pupils were happy to celebrate Heritage Day. As a school, we can’t wait for next year’s Heritage Day. A few of our matric pupils want to help organise it.”

Principal Alex Tau said the school was pleased with how pupils proudly wore their cultural attire to celebrate an important day. He stated, “As a school we are diverse because of our different cultures. No one can say they have no culture, we encouraged pupils to find out more about their culture, to take pride in it and stand united as we celebrate our diversity.”
