Hope Fountain Combined School hosts first Adventurers Day

MIDRAND - Hope Fountain Combined School pupils recently marched around Boulders Mall to showcase their first-ever Adventurers' Day to the Midrand community.

Principal of the school, Mlandeli Ncube said, “Pupils were taught about wisdom and how to make a conscious choice to apply wisdom in all decisions they make in life.”

The adventurers marched, saluted and recited the Adventurers’ pledge. The day teaches children about important life skills and moral values to provide them with a good start in their lives.

They are awarded badges representing honours for each study area they successfully complete. The honours include swimming, cookery, tracking and trailing animals, knowledge of plants and birds, leadership skills, basic survival skills and camping. The school runs an Adventurers’ Day Club for juniors from six to nine years of age, and a Pathfinder Club for seniors from 10 to 16 years old.

The principal said the school wants to thank Metro police for escorting them and keeping the pupils safe during the march.
