Goscor and Sangari SA partner to help Midrand school
MIDRAND - Pupils from JB Matabane Secondary School in Ivory Park recently received mobile science laboratories from Sangari South Africa, a supplier of educational solutions, and Goscor Group of Companies, as part of its corporate social investment initiative.
Goscor, which supplies industrial equipment and solutions to companies in various industries, has provided the school with solutions for its educational needs on numerous occasions over the years. As a non-fee paying school with 1 500 pupils, laboratories topped the needs list.
Principal of the school, Mamoyahabo Seakamela said, “The children are very excited about the science labs. We want to thank Goscor and Sangari South Africa for making the mobile laboratories donation. It takes a village to raise a child, we are glad they have come on board.”
In a statement, Goscor chief executive officer Neil Wilson said, “We are passionate about giving back to the community through numerous sustainable corporate social investment activities.” He said he believes quality education is crucial to South Africa’s economic success, which is a strong motivation to invest in education in various ways.
Chief executive officer for Sangari South Africa, Bez Sangari, said Sangari’s Active Science products are developed to enable teachers and pupils to engage and learn science anywhere.
“The Active Science mobile laboratories encourage teachers and pupils to gain practical experience through curriculum-aligned experiments. Teacher and pupil workbooks are structured to take advantage of the pupil’s natural curiosity.
“The portable science laboratories enable pupils to work independently doing their own experiments, and is priced significantly lower than setting up formal laboratories,” said Sangari.
“The portable units are designed to prolong chemicals and apparatus life, little storage space is needed and the unit is lockable. Practical experiments make use of small quantities of chemicals resulting in less wastage and easy disposal.”
