Resident waits over a month for Eskom to assist

CROWTHORNE - Over a month after the matter was reported, Eskom has finally responded to a Crowthorne residents' plea for them to attend to exposed electricity cables and a large pile of soil Eskom contractors left on her pavement.

Tania Denny showed Midrand Reporter the exposed cables and the damage to her pavement left by the contractors and said all she wants is for Eskom to fix the mess they made on her property when replacing stolen cables.

She said, “For the past few weeks, cable theft on Venus Road in Crowthorne has been a big problem. Cable thieves dug a hole that is about a metre long, stole cables and left some exposed.”

According to Denny, Eskom brought a front-end loader that scraped off the edge of her and her neighbours’ pavements when replacing the cables.

The huge pile of soil which Eskom dug up was left on her pavement. “Half of the sand is close to my electric fence, which is very dangerous for us and the animals on the property.”

When asked for comment on the issue, the Eskom Media Desk only stated, “We are busy with the repairs of the pavement and have been in contact with the affected complainant with regard to the matter.”
