Two Olievenhoutbosch schools celebrate matric results

OLIEVENHOUTBOSCH - Two schools in Olievenhoutbosch are excited about the achievements of their matric pupils.

Jerry Marumo, with a distinction in maths, and Talent Ngcobo who obtained a distinction in history, were Seshegong Secondary School’s top pupils. The school’s matrics achieved 10 distinctions.

Marumo wants to study accounting at the University of KwaZulu-Natal while Ngcobo will take on a law degree at the University of Johannesburg.

The school’s principal Irene Shongwe said the school had always maintained a pass of 86 percent or more since 2011. She stated, “We have succeeded more than we hoped. The important thing is that the school improved from last year’s 86 to 97 percent, and the impressive matric results from our 86 matric pupils are due to the hard work of educators who sacrificed their time to conduct morning and afternoon lessons.”

She said the school also received great support from the school governing body, parents, community and the private sector.

Olievehoutbosch Secondary School principal, Agnes Raboshakga, was proud of her school’s matric results. Pupils attained five distinctions and produced a 100 percent pass rate. Raboshakga said 107 pupils wrote exams but five of them did not write all the subjects and would get their results after writing supplementary exams in February. “Thanks to our staff and parents’ teamwork and support and the tenacity of our class of 2015,” she added.

The school’s top pupils were, Mluleki Ndlovu who achieved a distinction in maths and plans to study computer science at the University of Johannesburg, and Terrence Mahlangu who obtained a distinction in life science and wants to study microbiology at the same university.
