Midrand SPCA thanks donors and cyclists for funds raised
MIDRAND - The Midrand SPCA team that took park in the 947 Cycle Challenge last year raised R26 136 for its animals.
Chairperson of Midrand SPCA Brenda Lucas said, “This is our third year that we have entered into the race and we appreciate each and every individual that raised much-needed funds for our cause. The ride was not only devoted to the animals but also to Jacques Esterhuizen, a cancer patient who is in and out hospital as he continues to battle the disease. The race was dedicated to him in keeping with his wish to help animals.”
Lucas said the animal shelter would also like to thank the children of Little Friends Nursery along with their teacher Alecia Nel who also raised funds and food on behalf of the cyclists, and top fundraiser Grant Wood who raised R2 407.
One of the cyclists who took part in the challenge to raise funds for Midrand SPCA, Anton Bosman of Summit Cycles said, “Our reason for riding for the Midrand SPCA was an easy decision. We did it to show support for Jacques Esterhuizen whose wishes included feeding the hungry animals at the SPCA. We decided to ride to keep his wish alive.”
Midrand SPCA also wanted to thank cyclists Bosman, Carmen Loedolff, Azillahé Peens, Bokkie Nel, Cheryl Headon-Weeks, Yolandi Lochner, Cobus Wessels, Nicole Morse, Marelise Badenhorst, Kobus de Wet, Harry Nochumsohn, Wood, Mattie Viviers, Edwardo Figueira, Fabio de Sousa, Claudio Poco, Andre Poco, Alex Monteiro, Anru Nel, Brett Palframan and Jacques Blaauw.
