Man arrested in Ivory Park linked to 8 criminal cases
A multidisciplinary operation in Phumla Mqashi has led to the arrest of a suspect allegedly linked to more than eight cases, including three murders and two attempted murders.
A multidisciplinary operation in Ivory Park led to the arrest of a suspect allegedly linked to more than eight criminal cases, including three counts of murder and two of attempted murder.
The suspect was arrested at the Phumla Mqashi Informal Settlement on the night of September 27 following an intelligence-driven operation involving several law enforcement and private security agencies.

The operation was conducted by the Gauteng Traffic Police High Priority Crimes and Internal Affairs Unit, Ivory Park SAPS, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, Safeguard Risk Services and Fidelity ITOC.
According to the Gauteng Department of Community Safety, officers received information that the wanted suspect was in the informal settlement and began surveillance in the area.

“Officers received information that the wanted suspect was in Phumla Mqashi informal settlement and conducted surveillance in the area. He was subsequently spotted and arrested before officers searched the premises,” said the department.

During the search, officers recovered an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition, as well as a black BMW 320i that was allegedly unregistered and suspected to be linked to other crimes. A pair of police boots and a cellphone were also recovered.

Authorities said the suspect is allegedly linked to cases reported across several areas, including Ivory Park, Tembisa, Kempton Park, Lenasia South and Eldorado Park.
The cases include three counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, hijacking, theft and fraud.
The firearm, ammunition, vehicle and other recovered items will form part of the ongoing investigation as authorities work to establish whether they can be linked to other crimes.
Investigations are continuing.
