Midrand police have turned to the public to find a missing gazebo that was stolen at The Good Food Co.
“It was taken during a business burglary that occurred at a company on the corner of Whisken and Neptune roads in Crowthorne on 21 May,” said Midrand police’s head of communication, Constable Matome Tlamela.
“The suspects are unknown and we don’t know how many there might have been. The owners really want their property back and we are busy with investigations to bring the suspects to book.”
Ingrid Schwabe, who has owned the restaurant for four years said the gazebo had sentimental value to them because it was custom-made by one of their neighbours. “It’s light-weight and bright pink, it just suited us and the natural surrounding that we are in,” said Schwabe of the tranquil setting of her restaurant.
“They stole folding chairs, a hardly-been-used Weber kettle braai, and cups and saucers as well,” she said.
Tlamela said the estimated value of all the items stolen is R34 000. “They broke the padlock on the roller door and stole items from the storeroom,” she said.
Schwabe said they had been using the gazebo on the afternoon of 17 May, therefore, they suspect that the items were stolen by someone who knew where they were kept. “We packed them away after an event, then we realised that they were missing when we wanted to use them again on 21 May,” she said.
As a small business owner, Schwabe had a few words for the thief. “Whoever took it, I hope their conscience pricks at them – if indeed they have a conscience – then please just bring it back.”
“They can leave it where they found it and I won’t press charges or go on a witch hunt for them. Just please bring it back,” she begged.
