Crime awareness expo

MIDRAND – The police and CPF held a crime awareness expo in Noordwyk to educate the community about safety and crime.

The Noordwyk family fun and crime awareness mini expo held in the Noordwyk Park on 19th November was a resounding success. “Despite the threatening rain, residents came out in numbers to learn how to prevent themselves from becoming victims of crime and with the great tips and demonstrations, relaxing music and amazing food, a good day was had by all,” said Tanya Nyce from the Community Policing Forum.

Steven Johnstone, the forum’s chairperson, said this is a very good time for residents to take a look at their security and view their homes as a criminal would. This would ensure the necessary steps are taken so that criminals cannot gain access to properties.

Sector 3 and Social Crimes commander, Nametso Ignitius Molema also addressed residents about how to clamp down on crime.

“Remember all the tips on how to be aware and safe when you are shopping, when you are parking, when you are banking and when you are on the road.

“As the year is winding down and we are all looking forward to spending the festive season with our loved ones, let us all do what we can to ensure that this time is blessed and enjoyable and that we have the opportunity to relax and know that we are safe,” concluded Johnstone.
