It’s all about youth employment and entrepreneurship in Midrand
MIDRAND – DA councillor and international business coach establish a business community project to fight youth unemployment in Midrand.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has introduced a Business Community Project in Midrand aimed at creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for local unemployed youth.
The project is the brainchild of the DA’s Midrand constituency head councillor Annette Deppe and published author and international business coach, Kgati Khutjo ‘KK’ Diaz.
The project was launched on 25 March and saw about 100 enthusiastic and budding entrepreneurs getting together to hone their skills to ensure the unemployed youth in Midrand have access to the necessary skills to establish their own businesses.
“The project was initiated by me in collaboration with A-Game business consultancy as a means of enabling our youth to harness their potential. Our aim is to create jobs, training and education opportunities for youth aged between 15 and 24,” said Deppe.
“The need for such an initiative is tremendous. We have more than three million unemployed South Africans in this age group and we are here to offer assistance to these entrepreneurs as they embark on their journey.”

Diaz added that they wanted to establish and develop at least 30 businesses in Midrand which would be profitable and sustainable by December 2018. He said these businesses would enable the youth to directly create a minimum of 100 jobs which would be established and developed in the local community.
“We are hopeful that this will also enable us to create a further 500 job opportunities from our work with existing corporates. This will lead to the generation of a minimum of 30 bursaries from our 30 small-medium enterprises and a further 50 bursaries from the corporate and college fraternities,” Diaz concluded.
