Interviews for judges take place at the Office of the Chief Justice in Midrand

MIDRAND – Interviews of judges for courts across the country took place at the Office of the Chief Justice in Midrand.

 

Interviews for the appointment of judges at various courts across the country took place at the Office of the Chief Justice in Midrand from 3 to 7 April.

The interviews were conducted by about 23 commissioners including Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, Communications Minister, Faith Muthambi and EFF leader, Julius Malema.

The vacancies are for the Deputy Chief Justice of South Africa in the Constitution Court; President Judge and Deputy President Judge at the Supreme Court; Judge President for Mpumalanga and Judge President for the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court and a Judge President and a Deputy Judge President at the Northern Cape division of the High Court.

Other vacancies include a Deputy Judge President for North West division of the High Court, two judges for the Labour Court and one judge for the Electoral Court.

Some of the issues that were raised during the interviews were transformation and gender equity.

Interviews were open to members of the public.
