New man in the hot heat at Midrand Police Station and he’s all about fighting crime
MIDRAND – Midrand Police Station has a new station commander.
Midrand Police Station has a new station commander, Brigadier David Tsotsotso, who joined the station on 8 May.
Tsotsotso said, “It feels good to return to the Midrand Police Station even though the community has developed a lot and the area I will be servicing is big and requires a lot of hard work from myself and the team.”
He promised to use all his experience and expertise to minimise crime through joint operations with relevant parties including the community, Metro police, the Department of Home Affairs and the Midrand Community Policing Forum.

His words were echoed by the station’s communication officer, Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono, who said the commander and himself will discuss how best they could work with security companies.

Semono said, “Midrand has a high number of house break-ins, motor vehicle theft among serious crimes. I will kick-start my plan to improve Midrand by targeting illegal firearms which are often used to carry out many other forms of crime as well as focus on liquor outlets because drunk individuals tend to attract criminal activities around them such as having their vehicles stolen because they are an easy target.”
The commander said he would also be on the lookout for illegal immigrants.
Tsotsotso said, “If any member of the community is not pleased with the service they get at the station or from the officers, they are free to come to the station and see me because I have an open door policy for everyone.”
He furthermore invited people with information of criminal activities to come forward.
“I’m not someone who likes to sit in the office, but I love to get my hands dirty and do the work required of me and more,” concluded Tsotsotso.
