Blue Hills couple held at gunpoint in early hours of the morning, robbed of items worth R50k

MIDRAND – The suspects allegedly used the victim's shoelaces to tie his hands.

A couple was robbed of items worth R50 000 at gunpoint after midnight at their home in a residential complex in Blue Hills on 17 October.

According to the police, the couple was sleeping when the husband heard the bedroom door opening. It is alleged that two suspects entered the bedroom and switched on the lights before pointing a gun to the husband’s head.

“He saw two men carrying firearms. They allegedly pointed the guns to his head and ordered him to lie down. They allegedly tied his hands with his shoelaces,” said the spokesperson for Midrand Police Station, Sergeant Matome Tlamela.

Apparently, the victim heard a third suspect searching in their bedroom and saw two others walking to their child’s bedroom. “The suspects allegedly demanded money and their rings while they proceeded to search the bedroom.”

The suspects took two flat screen TVs, two laptops, two wedding rings, five cell phones and two watches. Police are investigating a case of house robbery.
