Curro will be opening a new DigiEd school on New Road in Midrand and 2020 enrolments are open.
The independent school operator has developed a new technology-driven education model called DigiEd. “This model of schooling was conceptualised with the workplace needs of 2030 in mind,” said Jay Paul, business manager at Curro Foreshore, the group’s first DigiEd school that opened its doors in January.
Paul added, “We acknowledge that the world has changed, and we can’t expect education to remain unaffected. We’ve been looking at various international education approaches, and have researched what children will need to know to be successful in the shifting work environment. DigiEd is the result of all this work.”
Paul emphasised that the digitally-driven education model doesn’t ‘throw traditional schooling out the window’, but rather seeks to take the next logical step in its evolution to benefit learners in a digital era. “Our model is based on international best practice, and are witnessing the success of it at our Curro Foreshore pilot campus in Cape Town.”

Based on this success, Curro will be expanding the model to two additional campuses next year with one in Midrand.
The DigiEd education moves away from traditional schooling, introducing a longer school day that runs from 8am to 7pm, a progressive curriculum with a focus maths, science and coding, and smaller group working environment.
Paul added, “Today’s logistics managers might be tomorrow’s drone traffic optimisers. Surgeons of the future might need to be able to operate specialised robots. Our education approaches need to be preparing children for jobs we may not even have imagined yet.”
Information sessions will be held at Curro DigiEd on New Road on 14 September and 12 October.
