2 charged with bribery at stop-and-search

MIDRAND – The police arrested two suspects for drug possession and bribery.


The Midrand police arrested two suspects for the possession of an illegal substance and bribery.

Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Sergeant Matome Tlamela said members were busy conducting a stop-and-search operation on Alexandra Road on 10 September when they stopped a suspicious vehicle with the two suspects inside.

They searched the car and found an undisclosed quantity of marijuana and another illegal substance.

When approached about the substance, the suspects attempted to bribe the police with R5 000 and were immediately arrested. The suspects were charged with possession of an illegal substance and bribery. The police confiscated R14 910 from the suspects.

Both are expected to appear in the Midrand Magistrates’ Court facing the above-mentioned charges.
