‘Munchkinz’ graduate

Munchkinz Crèche and Aftercare Centre hosted a special year-end graduation ceremony for their Grade R group on 7 December.

On the day children and parents gathered to celebrate the end of the year and the graduation of their Grade R class into ‘big school’ at the Midrand Primary School in Noordwyk.

The kids at the crèche performed a number of small pieces displaying what they learned throughout the year, including plays and dance pieces.

Founder and principal of Munchkinz Margo le Roux said, “The day is our annual concert and graduation with the children sharing what they learn. The performances are not only about repeating letters and numbers but also very important life skills such as personal and social well-being.

“This event is important because it gives the child a sense of value because they are now a senior in the crèche and next year they will be a junior in Grade 1. Our crèche prepares them for Grade 1.

“We hope that they realise that this is an important step for the children. And the parents being here is very significant to help the child realise how great this milestone is.”

Le Roux said that it has been a good year with a few challenges but overall the teachers and parents have come together to assist in their learners’ experience at the school. “I think it’s amazing how many parents came through to the graduation to celebrate this achievement.”

The Grade Rs were handed their certificates on the day before having a fun day with food served at the event.
