Christ Church Preparatory School and College are excited to open their ‘virtual doors’ on 14 April.
Principal of the school David Bell said, “As our school holiday draws to a close and the Easter weekend is almost upon us, we look forward to the onset of what is most probably the most unique, and yet exciting, term of my teaching career.”
The school is on break until 14 April and have developed online platforms and training for the staff to help their learners when the school reopens.
Bell said, “We, at Christ Church, are in the privileged position of having a truly great staff at our school. They are excited, but understandably nervous, as this is new to all of us. One thing that our parents can be assured of is that our staff will be well prepared and ready to give it their all.

“I have always said that we could make school at Christ Church work under a tree if we didn’t have the great facilities that we do have, simply because we have a great staff. Covid-19 is our ‘tree’ for 2020 and we will make it work.”
The school has given the parents and learners guidelines via email from the staff to begin the new term. “We are encouraging our pupils to follow the school timetable. Whilst this is not essential, it will give our pupils some structure and assist with their emotional well-being in a time when they are probably feeling isolated. Our staff will be available to answer any questions during their timetabled lessons.”
The school have also forwarded extra-curricular activities to the learners in order the make the experience as close to the school day as possible.
Bell concluded, “A huge thank you to all our staff, especially Jaco van der Merwe from the college and Jean Morrison from the preparatory, both of whom have been the driving force behind the various online platforms and online training of our staff.”
