Security officer stabbed by suspect in Vorna Valley

VORNA VALLEY – It is alleged that the suspect stabbed the security guard when he was intercepted trying to break into a property.

A security officer, working for local security company Ria Sebetsa, was assaulted and stabbed by a suspect in Vorna Valley on 21 August after he tried to stop the suspect from allegedly committing a crime.

According to the CEO of Ria Sebetsa Security, Danny Maduray, the incident happened in the early hours of the morning. “The officer was stabbed and assaulted in the neck, chin and hand by a suspect on the corner of Albertyn Street and Harry Galaun Drive, Vorna Valley. I am sad by the increase in crime. As I have said before, we are going to see an uphill battle now that we are at the peak of the Covid 19 pandemic.”

Maduray added, “The time is now more than ever that residents need to be vigilant and take responsibility by joining hands with the security companies in the area. One proactive measure will be to fight crime street by street.”

He concluded, “If you have a dominant security company on your street maybe everyone supports the same company so that more resources can be put in per company instead of it being scattered like now. ”

Midrand Police Station standby spokesperson, Captain Molefe Mogodi confirmed that the police are looking for a suspect, following the incident.
“It is alleged that two reaction officers were searching for the suspect who, earlier in the morning, attempted to break into a premises in the area.

“It is not known exactly what happened at the time, but it is alleged that the suspect stabbed the security reaction officer with a knife and then got away.”
