Christ Church matric learners are delighted with their 100 per cent pass rate
NOORDWYK – The matric class from Christ Church Preparatory School and College collected their results on 19 February.
Christ Church Preparatory School and College matrics achieved an incredible 100 per cent pass rate.
Principal of the school David Bell said, “[Last year] was obviously a difficult year for the whole world, particularly for the matric students.
“It was probably the hardest and busiest year of any child’s schooling. I’m immensely proud of our students, they worked hard. Our teachers went online with them, and it wasn’t a normal year.

Bell added, “I’m very pleased to say that we had a 100 per cent pass rate, with 95 per cent of our students achieving university entrance… I just want to say that they need to carry on from the good start they had here and we wish them everything of the best.”

The two top learners in the matric class were Paballo Mofokeng and Karabo Mafatle who both achieved an incredible seven distinctions each.
Paballo attained distinctions in Afrikaans, information technology, life orientation, life sciences, maths, physics and applied maths while Karabo achieved distinctions in accounting, IsiZulu, life orientation, maths, applied maths, physics and hospitality studies.
Karabo, who is planning on studying at the University of Cape Town said, “It was very shocking, but I’m so excited.”
Karabo’s father Ayanda Msimang said, “This is one of the best moments because she lost her grandmother during her exams, particularly her maths exam which she did exceptionally well in.”

Boipelo Monareng achieved a stellar five distinctions in information technology, life orientation, mathematics, physics and life sciences while Tshiamo Modise and Neo Izunobi both achieved four distinctions each. Tshiamo achieved distinctions in accounting, life orientation, maths and physics while Neo achieved in English, history, IsiZulu and life orientation.

Tshiamo said she planned to study business science and accounting at University of Cape Town and also wanted one of her exams remarked to possibly get an added distinction.


Bell concluded, “Mention must be made of the life orientation department who obtained 14 As, the mathematics department obtained 12 As and the IsiZulu and drama departments, where more than 40 per cent of the learners opting to take those subject obtained As.”
