Setting the record straight: Ward 132 candidate Ryan Pickford has his say

MIDRAND – The print edition of the Fourways Review and Midrand Reporter erroneously published the wrong information on councillor candidate for Ward 132, Ryan Pickford this week. Here is the correct version of what Pickford said.

The Midrand Reporter and Fourways Review covered several ward candidates who were standing for election in this year’s local government elections in this week’s editions [Week ending October 29, 2021]The publications erroneously published the wrong information on councillor candidate for Ward 132, Ryan Pickford in these editions. The publications apologise for the error and any confusion caused.

Below is what Pickford said he would do if elected as ward councillor:

Co-founder of Disrupt Party, business owner and Ward 132 councillor candidate Ryan Pickford said the ward has service delivery. He added, “It may not always happen in the time we hope or be limited to budget restraints. We have created an app to report and escalate residents’ issues. This is all in one place, making it easy for residents. Also, our new app assists the councillor in knowing what is outstanding on a daily basis.”

He stated that, as councillor, he would ensure issues that residents report, are escalated. “Get the reference number and get the problem sorted, if not, we need to find out what the problem is and fix that. This again is why we have developed an app to assist both the residents, entities and the councillor in resolving the issues as quickly as possible.

“Our infrastructure is old and failing us. We need to put budget aside and new infrastructure must be key in solving these problems.”

He also added, “Across the country we have displaced people and, as a city, we don’t have a real solution. Crime and unemployment continue to hamper our city. I have grown up in the area and live in the ward, I will continue to build and make new relationships to make the suburb better for all.”

Speaking of family, Pickford said, “I have grown up in Halfway House and run a successful business from Midrand. I have had a very colourful life and grown up in a family that has always loved all people. I know no different. My mother and father taught me to help others and this is what has drawn me to politics.”
