Have your say about centre’s rezoning

MIDRAND – Community members are called to give their comments on the rezoning of the SanRidge Shopping Centre.

City of Johannesburg’s Development Planning department is calling on locals to take part in a public participation of the rezoning of the SanRidge Square Shopping Centre to allow for ‘places of amusement’ (bookmaker and bingo hall).

According to Poppy Louw, chief specialist for communications and stakeholder liaison in development planning, the rezoning application was advertised on October 5 so the public may comment on such a proposal.

The application was made in terms of Section 21 of the City of Johannesburg Municipal Planning by-law 2016, for the rezoning of the site to ‘Business 1’ (excluding residential buildings), including hotels, public offices, places of assembly, offices, shops, restaurants, and motor-showrooms (including related workshops).

As per legislation, any objection or representation concerning the application must be submitted to both the owner/agent and the Registration Section of the Department of Development Planning or posted to PO Box 30733, Braamfontein, 2017, or a facsimile sent to 011 339 4000, or an email sent to ObjectionsPlanning@joburg.org.za by no later than November 3 this year.
