Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates join Vodacom support tomorrow’s leaders

OLIVENHOUTBOSCH – The three stakeholders took to Bathabile Primary School to hand over 1 700 stationery packs, as part of their back-to-school drive.

Vodacom, Kaizer Chiefs, and Orlando Pirates have ensured that the learners of Bathabile Primary School in Olivenhoutbosch start their school year on a winning note.

As part of their back-to-school drive, the three stakeholders, with the help of soccer stars from the two teams, handed out 1 700 stationery packs to the learners on January 28.

The players, many of whom have kids, took the initiative to heart, with the captains of both teams – Bernard Parker and Happy Jele – joining the network provider to personally go, select and buy the stationery.

Each learner received a back-to-school stationery pack that consisted of a pencil case, ruler, pencils, coloured pencils, wax crayons, pens, ruler sharpener, and dictionaries.

Orlando Pirates midfielder, Linda Mntambo explained that just as they cannot go inside the pitch without soccer boots, the same applied to learners having stationery for school. “Stationery is an important tool for these learners to help them get a better education.”

“I know this day made a difference to these learners in helping them to focus on their education and stay true to what they want to achieve,” added former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

Ramashite Kutu, principal at Bathabile Primary School, who was overwhelmed by the support for his learners said that they felt honoured.

“These stationery packs will make a very big impact on our curriculum. Our learners now won’t have to worry about not having pencils and other stationery, and Vodacom, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs have relieved a tremendous burden from our learners’ parents,” said Kutu.

Sibongile Mthimunye, Vodacom’s senior soccer specialist, concluded that they were hoping the stationery will go a long way toward helping these learners conquer 2022.
