Bolamba Culture Birds entertained shoppers with cultural dance moves at the Boulders Shopping Centre in Midrand as Africa Month came to an end in May.

With their attractive traditional regalia, it was difficult for buyers to just pass the Ivory Park-based dance group without waiting a moment to be entertained.

Founder and director of the group Thabo Dube said they had an amazing and memorable experience and the turnout from the audience was satisfactory on May 28.

“We are looking forward to work with the Centre in future because we are a local [Ivory Park] dance group. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to pass my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Centre management for giving us such an amazing opportunity to perform here [Boulders],” said Dube.
Bolamba Culture Birds was founded in 2019 as an attempt to move young boys and girls from drugs, teenage pregnancy and other social ills.

He said Africa Month was a crucial month as it revives, preserves different and authentic African cultures through dance, poetry and other forms of Arts

Dube said, “In the future, we are looking to partner with various companies so that we can share our African Cultures with the world and preserve it. We are proudly Africans and we have realized a lot of people have left their cultures and followed the western cultures thus our objective is to preserve our African culture”.

One dancer Jellinah Mokgatleng also known as Selonyana or Rebabedi said “I am honoured to be part and work with Bolamba Culture Birds group. I love dancing and that is why I enjoy being part of the group. They share the same vision as me when it comes to preserving cultural dance”.
