Rabie Ridge model wins first princess title despite tough competitors

She grabbed the judges' attention with her catwalk moves at the pageant.

After winning Miss Pretoria West’s first princess last year, Rabie Ridge-based model Sanele Khuzwayo recently added another modelling accolade to her cabinet.

Khuzwayo, on May 8, packed her modelling kit bag along with her dress and makeup and headed to Daveyton for the Elite Kings and Queens RSA Pageant. She returned home as the pageant’s first princess.

Through the Elite pageants, youth have an opportunity to achieve and surpass their potential in the pageant industry, as well as enhance their leadership skills.

“I have to admit, it was the most challenging pageant I have ever been part of considering I competed against models who had previously been crowned queens,” said Khuzwayo.

With her self-confidence, Khuzwayo caught the judges by surprise with her catwalk moves during the pageants and was named among the top five.

“I suppose creativity became my best friend along the way because I had to work as creatively as I could.”

When her name was mentioned by the judges as the first princess, she could not believe it although she was confident that she could at least bag a second place. “A prayer came to my mind as I heard my name mentioned.”

The 22-year-old model draws inspiration from her own experiences. Despite a number of challenges she has faced through her modelling journey, she never gave up, instead, she took time to see where she went wrong and then rectified her mistakes.

“It is crucial for youths to know that failure does not mean the end of the road. The struggle should not discourage them from pursuing their dream.”

She has always been passionate about informing youth of her community about the opportunities available to them, so as the founder of Miss Face of Rabie Ridge, she and her colleagues decided to host other local pageants such as Miss Rovers FC 2022, a pageant in which the winner will be the face of the local football club Super Rovers FC.

When it comes to maintaining her figure as a model, Khuzwayo said she did stomach exercises every now and then and drinks coffee mixed with lemon.

Currently, she is a finalist for Miss Passionate Gauteng 2022 and her next big goal is to become Miss Gauteng Exclusive.
