Midrand Christain College held a expo for Grade 10 to 12 learners to help them choose their future career path.
The school’s acting principal Edmore Kufahakurambwi said the idea to have the expo was triggered by learners’ need for guidelines on possible career paths and to expose the school to the community.

He said before the expo, learners felt they had little knowledge about careers, especially which career choices to further after their high school days.
“Choosing a career is like trying to pick a needle in a haystack. The learners seemed interested and more engaged as they took notes and later asked valuable questions. After the question-and-answer session, most learners highlighted that they were more confident and aware of the career path they may wish to pursue,” said Kufahakurambwi.
He believes the expo, held on September 17, achieved its purpose as some learners still come to his office to enquire more about various careers out there.

Kufahakurambwi said they wanted to encourage learners to reflect on their ambitions, interests, qualifications, and abilities and help them make decisions on their future careers.
“The attendance was satisfactory as most learners from our school students from Grade 10 to 12 attended. Learners from various schools in Alexandra township and around Midrand came on their own after sending invites to their schools.”

Professionals who attended were from the tourism, aviation, banking, finance, accounting, broadcasting, and communication industries, among others.
