The National Commissioner of South African Police, General Fannie Masemola recently received two helicopters on behalf of the South African police in Midrand.

During his speech on September 1, General Masemola expressed gratitude for the assets, stating that they would enhance the police’s efforts in the fight against crime.

“The handover of the two aircraft assets is expected to provide crucial air support to police on the ground,” said Masemola.

“The primary focus will be on tracking and tracing suspects in high-risk incidents such as Cash-In-Transit (CIT) heists, armed robberies, hijackings, and other serious and violent crimes.”

Local resident Kenneth Ruthven described the choppers as “awesome additions to the police.”

“God bless you and increase you more and more for the good work you guys have been doing,” said another resident, Eke Michael. “Only the blind will claim that police officers are doing nothing.”

Furthermore, Masemola also handed over a brand new H125 Airbus helicopter to Visible Policing and Operations late last year with the goal of bolstering the organization’s crime-fighting efforts and adding to the police’s existing fleet of helicopters across the country whose goal is to provide air support in crime prevention operations as well as search and rescue missions.
