Glen Austin murder to be probed by provincial police

Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says police cannot reveal more information for fear of compromising the investigation.

Gauteng provincial police have confirmed they are investigating the murder of Samkelo Sibusiso ‘Shaka’ Mazibuko after the case was transferred from Midrand Police Station
Shaka, as he was affectionately known in his Ebony Park community, was found dead near Belvedere Road in Glen Austin on March 1 by a passerby. The white VW Golf 4 he was driving has not been found.
A moving memorial service was held on March 6 at his home in Ebony Park. Shaka was laid to rest in his hometown of Newcastle, KZN on March 9. Shaka’s mother Zandile Magubane said she had no words to describe the murder of her son and the arrest of the perpetrators would bring her and the family much-needed closure.

Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said, “Police are investigating a case of murder and the search for the suspects is underway. Police cannot divulge more information on this case as that might compromise the investigation. We are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111.”

Asked if they were also investigating a case of hijacking, Masondo said more charges might be added, pending the investigations.

Zandile Magubane, said she had no words to describe the murder of his son.mMagubane said the arrest of her son’s perpetrators will bring her and the family much-needed closure.
