Thato from Glen Austin High vows to do her best in academics

Thato Rampyapedi says although she is not a professional photographer, she enjoys taking pictures and creating content.

A young Glen Austin High School learner is adamant to punch above her weight in her final year of high school.

Thato Rampyapedi (17) from Clayville describes herself as an average person that tries to be outstanding in academics.

She says lending a helping hand makes her sleep better at night and she would like to see herself in a position of helping others.
“I am a committed and dedicated person. I have a unique personality. I’m still learning more about myself. I’m in Grade 12 . I live with my mom and my siblings. I’m a very introverted person, shy and sensitive but at the same time as I like to explore and be adventurous.”
The matric learner gives a lot of credit to her mother and cousin, Keabetswe Manathoko, who was a head girl of the school in 2021. “My mom inspires me to work as hard as possible to make my future a better one. My cousin Keabetswe has set a great example in my life to actually become a great person and has taught me good morals. I enjoy any activity that can keep me active. I am a netball player and I can also play soccer.”
She says she enjoys creating content or capturing moments. However, she wouldn’t classify herself as a photographer but when she tried it out, she indeed enjoyed it to the core.

Thato says her love for netball started in primary school when she used to think of what she really wants to be in the future.
“I once had a desire of being one of the star netball players in South Africa. I would like to see myself in the next five years as an entrepreneur estate agent and graduate in biomedical engineering at Wits University or Cape Town University.”
