JMPD arrest suspect for attempted car hijacking in Rabie Ridge
While three suspects managed to escape, the other suspect was arrested and charged with attempted hijacking, possession of live ammunition, reckless and negligent driving, and attempted murder.
A 24-year-old male suspect was arrested by JMPD operations officers on October 9 for attempted car hijacking in Rabie Ridge.

According to the JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla, the JMPD officers witnessed four suspects attempting to hijack a white Isuzu DMax vehicle at the intersection of Republic and Boshoff roads.
Upon noticing the officers, the suspects fled the scene in a white Volkswagen Golf 6 and a white Renault Kwid.

“A high-speed chase ensued, leading to the suspects’ vehicles crashing into a wall on Falcon Street,” said Fihla. “While three suspects managed to escape, the driver of the Renault Kwid was arrested with the assistance of residents.”
The arrested suspect was detained at Rabie Ridge police with charges of attempted hijacking, possession of live ammunition, reckless and negligent driving, and attempted murder.

“Both vehicles involved in the incident were seized by the officers for further verification.”
