Drugs worth R470 000 were seized in Midrand’ Country View Estate by Hawks.

The Gauteng Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation is pleased to share a substantial development on their ongoing fight against drug trafficking within the region.

This follows the arrest of a 50-year-old male suspect at an estate in Midrand, where law enforcement officials successfully seized a significant quantity of drugs worth an estimated street value of approximately R470 000.

On November 22, a meticulously planned operation led to the successful apprehension of a suspect involved in drug dealing activities.

Gauteng spokesperson for the Hawks Captain Lloyd Ramovha said: “Following a tip-off regarding suspected drug dealing in the Midrand policing area, our dedicated team conducted thorough groundwork and surveillance.”

Ramovha said the investigation revealed suspicious activities at an address in Country View Estate, Midrand. Acting on this information, a search and seizure warrant was obtained from the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

Upon executing the warrant, the police’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation team conducted a comprehensive search of the premises.

“The Gauteng Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation remains committed to eradicating drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities. This operation serves as a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our officers,” concluded Kadwa.
