Super Midrand Ladies Academy gears up for Regional League
After 14 games, Lions of Venda finished the season unbeaten with 6 wins and 8 draws. They now look to take on the SAFA Womens Regional League, planning on taking home at least a top 3 position.

After orchestrating yet another title-clinching move in the Midrand Local Football Association (MLFA), the Super Midrand Ladies Academy coach, Katlego Masia, said they are ready for the SAFA Women’s Regional League.

Masia said after just one season in the Regional League in 2022/2023, they learnt a lot about the league and its intensity, and this time, they are not going there to add numbers. SAFA Women’s Regional League is the third tier of South African women’s football before the Sasol and the Hollywood Women’s Leagues.

Masia’s Lions of Venda finished the league with 26 points after just 14 games. He steered the team to an impressive 6 wins, 8 draws, and no losses.
Speaking to the paper, the modest coach said the season was not easy but they just remained focused to get a promotion.
“I am glad that even if we had challenges regarding players due to most of them being in matric, we still managed to win the league using our development players. As a team we worked towards one goal, and that was returning to the Regional League, because we want to test ourselves against the best. I could not have done this if it was not for the help of my assistant coach, Vuyiswa Macebele, for the support she gave me and the team,” said Masia.

He further thanked Macebele for all the effort she put into keeping the team moving. Masia said, as a team they focused on their season game plan and did not want to lose focus by concentrating on their opponents.
“We are more than ready to participate in the Regional League again. And this time, we are not going there to add a number, we’re going there to compete. We are not aiming for position one, yet, but we are going to compete for a top 3 finish at least,” added Masia.
