Glen Austin House hosts a successful family fun and open day

Antoinette Engelbrecht, SPL Group senior manager, said the fun day aimed to showcase the school's inclusive and dynamic culture.

Glen Austin House came alive when the school held a successful open and family fun day on May 17, attracting a large turnout of parents and supporters.

Sports, dance and choir performances were the order of the day from young and old, with the parents vs learners netball match adding to the excitement.

The learners captivated attendees with an energetic performance of Sarafina, infused with a modern twist that gave the classic piece an edgy feel.

Grade 12s delivered a beautiful choir performance, while the foundation phase also performed Lyfie for the crowd. The day-long exhibitions showcased the learners’ work and imagination, and an animal petting zoo was a hit with kids.

Sporting highlights included Glen Austin House soccer and netball teams competing against Curro Clayville and Sagewood, respectively, with Curro schools winning both matches.

Antoinette Engelbrecht, of owners SPL Group, said, “We wanted to highlight our offerings at the school, to foster community engagement while attracting new parents to enroll their children at the school, ranging from Grade RR to Grade 12,” said Engelbrecht

She added that the children enjoyed jumping castles and activities, while parents relaxed and braaied, showing great support for their children, all with the sole aim of supporting them.

“We would like to thank all the parents who contributed to the success of this event. Your support and participation are appreciated. Applications are still open for both the current and upcoming school year. We invite families to join our school community.

As a combined school, we offer classes from Grade RRR to Grade 4 and Grade 8 to 12.”
