Murder investigation launched after man found stabbed in Mayibuye

Motive unclear as police investigate Mayibuye stabbing death.

Rabie Ridge Police Station has opened a case of murder after a man was found stabbed to death in Mayibuye on the evening of November 24.

The body of the man was discovered at around 20:00 on the corner of Bulelwa Mokomane and Malesibane streets. According to Ekurhuleni District Police spokesperson Captain Nelda Sekgobela, the man was found lying in the road with multiple stab wounds.

“[The] complainant alleged that she was on duty as a patrolling crew when she received [a] complaint of murder at the corner of Bulelwa Mokomane Street and Malesibane Street at Mayibuye,” said Sekgobela.

“On arrival, she [the complainant] found paramedics from the Gauteng Emergency Services at the scene who pointed to the body of a black male, who was declared dead at the scene.”

Police said another man later arrived at the scene and identified the deceased as his cousin from Mozambique.

Sekgobela confirmed that no arrests have been made and the circumstances surrounding the murder remain under investigation. “All role players were summoned to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the suspect is still on the run,” said Sekgobela.

The body was transported to the Germiston Mortuary for further investigation.
