Midrand police case leads to recovery of hijacked truck in Alexandra

A hijacked truck, linked to the Midrand police case, was recovered in Alexandra after swift action by JMPD and a tracking unit.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit (TRU) successfully recovered a hijacked truck in Alexandra, following a case reported by the Midrand Police Station.

JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla confirmed that, upon receiving actionable intelligence about the hijacked vehicle, TRU officers swiftly joined forces with a tracking unit to pinpoint its location on December 20. “Upon arrival, officers found the dashboard partially stripped and the cargo stolen.”

No suspects were found at the scene at the time of the recovery. The truck was subsequently booked into the Aeroton Police Station vehicle pound, where it will form part of an ongoing investigation.
